How to Raise Your Kids American

How to Raise Your Kids American

2014 was an unbelievable year for me and my family. I was not surprised by the success of my book, "American Apples from German Trees:  How to Raise Your Kids American" in Germany and the other German speaking countries of Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Belgium, France, and Namibia. I was surprised that there would not only a market, but a successful market, for my book in America as well as Canada.

I personally would not have thought that I had so much to say to American parents about raising American children. Unfortunately, I do not have demographic data for the purchasers of the translation of my book. Were they immigrants parents looking for advice or were they, as they are called, red-blooded Americans? If the people at my book signings have been any indication, my American audience appears to be surprisingly white, native Americans. I say surprisingly because I would not have thought that I could have taught them anything about raising Americans.

If this experience has taught me anything it has taught me that one of the great things about Americans is that they are constantly trying to better themselves. They are always trying to climb up a little higher up that shining city on the hill.

To reach a broader audience, I have started this blog to keep my readers up to date on American issues, not always related to raising kids. Americans say that it takes one to know one, but it also can be that the further you are away the better you can see.
